Appointment of Oscar O’Connor as Chief Information Security Officer

At TrackBack we take data security and risk management very seriously. We handle millions of leads for dozens of car brands in over 20 markets worldwide, and are responsible for updating their lead management and CRM systems with data about dealer call and email activity. All of this sensitive and precious data needs to be protected not only from being corrupted or mismanaged, thereby preventing TrackBack from delivering accurate and immediate value, but also from potential human threats such as data theft or malicious intent.

Before we are appointed by large corporations, we typically have to pass a thorough audit of our systems and processes. Car manufacturers are extremely experienced in managing complex global IT, so their audits are hugely rigorous. However, the digital world becomes more complex every day, and threats are becoming increasingly devious. So even though we have passed all previous audits, we are extremely conscious that our commitment to our clients is ongoing. Therefore, while we have never knowingly thus far been penetrated by a threat, we have decided to appoint a highly experienced person to oversee all our security arrangements to provide our clients and ourselves with the maximum possible confidence that we never will.

We are therefore delighted to announce that Oscar O’Connor is appointed as our Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Oscar’s experience is second to none. He has specialised in risk management and information security since the late 1990s and is active in the UK’s Information Assurance Advisory Council (http://www.iaac.org.uk) and Head of Assessment for the Cyber Security Challenge UK (http://www.cybersecuritychallenge.org.uk). He is also a regular speaker at events relating to cyber security, governance, risk and compliance and has a number of publications to his name.

Gareth Thomas, Managing Director of TrackBack, commented: “We have been working with Oscar on an ad-hoc basis for many years, and are delighted to add him to our team in this pivotal role on a permanent basis. His appointment strengthens our security provision and provides clients with additional assurance about how seriously we treat the data they entrust to us.”
